Patrick Stump Covers Prince’s Kiss – Can We Have A Purple One Acapella Now Please?

Even the fact that Prince wants to make covers illegal doesn’t stop Patrick Stump paying homage to his idol. Back in 2008 he performed “I Wanna Be Your Lover” for Rolling Stone and earlier in the year he dropped “Nothing Compares 2 U” into his set. Well now, he’s followed that by an acoustic rendition of “Kiss” to celebrate the launch of his Patrick Stump Radio on Slacker Radio.

His cover may border on an impersonation but hey, anything which involves Patrick Stump and Prince makes me smile. However, it would be nice for him to sing a little more of it in his ‘own’ voice like he does on the final chorus (if we excuse him of the self-acknowledged bum note). So dear Mr Stump when you do finally have time to/get permission from the purple one’s legal team to give us a Prince acapella medley, just remember that although we love your falsetto, we also love the fact you’ve got a range like no motherf*cker knows.
