Alexander McQueen’s ‘Savage Beauty’ Gala at the Costume Institute
Blake Lively, Marc Jacobs, Rihanna, Madonna, Rashida Jones, Anna Wintour, Gisele Bundchen and many more stars, models, designers, fashion editors and socialites gathered in their gowns and tuxedos to celebrate the Costume Institute’s tribute to Alexander McQueen in New York City tonight. Over 100 pieces by the designer were featured in a spectacular exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Curator Andrew Bolton told WWD, “McQueen had such a singular voice and he was a remarkable technician….He really was one of the most provocative voices of the past 30 years in fashion. His catwalk presentations were outstanding and straddle art and fashion. We want to get across two elements- the spectacle of the runway presentations and the beauty of his craftsmanship.”
The gala was hosted by Anna Wintour, Stella McCartney and Colin Firth. Salma Hayek and her husband Francois-Henri Pinault helped plan the event.
