Guess Why James Franco Carved Brad Renfro’s Name Into His Arm
Is there anything James Franco CAN’T do?! We’d like to know! He’s an actor, writer, student, and, more-so these days, an artist.
James’ latest art project involves carving deceased actor Brad Renfro’s name into his arm with a swtichblade – all in the name of art. His new project, entitled Rebel, is an exhibition at the Venice Biennale honoring the classic James Dean film Rebel Without a Cause.
If carving Brad’s name seems completely random, it’s not THAT random: the two co-starred in the 2002 film Deuces Wild. And both James Dean and Brad Renfro were hot actors who died at a young age (at 25, Brad passed away in 2008 due to a heroin overdose).
It shouldn’t be TOO shocking news – James is known for some of his unorthodox/bizarre art. Although, one has to admit that self mutilation for the sake of art is a tad bit troubling. Just hope that you sterilized everything first, James!
