Chris Brown Has Been Charged
I don’t know if y’all have been keeping up with all the he-said she-said drama involved in the Chris Brown / Rihanna beatdown aftermath, but those of you concerned with the proceedings should know that Brown has been charged with felony assault and a felony count of making criminal threats.
Chris and Rihanna (both 19 years old) supposedly got into a key-throwing, head-bruising, arm-biting fiasco after a pre-Grammy party on February 7th, and neither attended the ceremony the next day even though they were scheduled to perform.
Our community here has been in a bit of an uproar — there has been some victim blaming on other blogs, and freak-outs over the couple possibly reuniting.
Arraignment is scheduled to take place in downtown L.A. at 3:30 p.m. today. Brown is facing a possible four years in the slammer.
Although some will vehemently say this is “none of our business,” I think celebrities issues provide a good catalyst for discussion about domestic abuse and other weighty issues that are not so easy to bring up on the fly.
