Bob Dylan Sells His Entire Music Catalog

Singing legend Bob Dylan has agreed to sell his entire music catalog for an estimated $300 million. The deal with Universal Music includes every piece of music Dylan has written and published, a catalog that spans more than six decades.

Among Dylan's greatest hits that are now under Universal Music's ownership are "Knockin' On Heaven’s Door,", Like A Rolling Stone," "The Times They Are a-Changin'," "Tangled Up in Blue," “Lay Lady Lay,” “Forever Young,” "Make You Feel My Love," “Gotta Serve Somebody,” and “Things Have Changed.”

Chairman and CEO of UMG, Sir Lucian Grainge, said the company feels "enormous pride" and that they understand the responsibility of becoming the caretakers of Dylan's music.

Grainge also called the legendary musician one of the “very greatest practitioners of that art."The New York Times revealed the deal, which they say was negotiated directly with assistance from Bob Dylan.

Dylan's catalog of music is still very popular. More than 6,000 artists have re-recorded his music. Among those groups are The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Animals, The Black Crowes, and many others. Dylan's catalog is also very popular for licensing in movies, TVs, and events.
