Celebrity Coachella Outfits That Bring Festival Style To A Whole New Level
Every April, hundreds of thousands of people flock to the desert city of Indio, California near Palm Springs for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Even celebrities brave walking among the ranks of unfamous people to enjoy one of the biggest musical events of the year and you can bet that they come ready to serve looks. From Vanessa Hudgens to Jared Leto, these celebrities have found ways to amp up typical festival wear and make it 10x more glamorous. Perhaps some of these noteworthy celebrity Coachella looks might give you a bit of style inspiration as you prepare for this year's festival.
Hailey Bieber
Hailey Bieber looked ready to go at Coachella 2017 in classic festival wear. Then, she was still known as Hailey Baldwin and the model didn't need her now-husband to add to her fame. Here she's dressed like a true California girl in a crop top and Daisy Duke-esque jean shorts.
Hailey glammed up the 'fit with a silver-fringed denim jacket and coordinating silver statement earrings. With this look, it's really the subtle details that make such a simple outfit stand out, so Hailey amped it up even more with her sparkly tights underneath her shorts.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens (a.k.a. the unofficial queen of Coachella) always has incredible outfits at this yearly music festival. We particularly love this punky vibe from Coachella 2018, especially for the fact that she coordinated with her sister, Stella.
These colorful numbers are quintessential Coachella vibes. Not only are they stylish, but they are also comfortable enough to brave the crowds and the unavoidable desert heat. Vanessa's mini dress is the perfect contrast to Stella's maxi dress. We can't say that they don't look like twins in this photo, even though they're six years apart.
Emily Ratajkowski
Models Emily Ratajkowski and Elsa Hosk were visions in white at Coachella 2018. Both of them were spotted at one of the hottest parties thrown during Coachella: Revolve Festival. Ostensibly, Emily and Elsa are wearing white dresses from the clothing site, which sells some of the most sought after brands in women's fashion.
White would be an excellent color to opt for at Coachella, that is, if you could manage to keep it clean amid all the dust and crowds. Hopefully these girls opted for more comfortable shoes when it came to actually enjoying the musical acts!
Rihanna
Rihanna stunned in head-to-toe Gucci at Coachella 2017. In a look that literally came straight off the runway – Gucci's Fall/Winter 2017 show in Milan, to be exact – Rihanna went incognito as she was merely a guest at that year's Coachella, not a performer.
The outfit includes a rhinestone-covered body stocking, complete with a piece that covers her head. On top, RiRi wore a Gucci tank top and obligatory denim cut-off shorts. She may have Gucci to thank for her look that year but her shoes were a little more personal with Fenty x Puma platform sneakers.
Shay Mitchell
You actress Shay Mitchell claims that temperatures reached up to 99 degrees during Coachella 2017, but that didn't stop her from breaking out her baddest '90s hip-hop style. Shay makes old blue jeans look effortlessly cool as she paired it with a simple white bra top and a denim jacket – which she probably didn't need.
She clearly went for full comfort as evidenced by her slides but still manages to add a touch of edge to this outfit with rounded sunnies and a studded belt. This is one Coachella look that we can definitely get behind.
H.E.R.
H.E.R. was seen at Coachella 2018 with music video director Karena Evans. H.E.R., whose real name is Gabi Wilson, looked like a local on the grounds of the festival dressed in camo pants and a black tube top. Her lustrous curly hair was styled into half space buns and of course, she wears her signature sunglasses.
On this weekend of the festival, H.E.R. made a surprise appearance during Daniel Ceasar's set to sing their popular collaboration, "Best Part." Since then, H.E.R.'s fame only continues to grow with her winning Best R&B Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Jordyn Woods
Jordyn Woods pulled up to Coachella 2018 in this curve-accentuating orange mini dress and accessorized with a cute woven headband. Wearing California's favorite sneaker, Vans, and a belt bag across her chest, Woods was clearly ready to enjoy all that Coachella had to offer that year in comfort and undeniable style.
The body-positive entrepreneur, who is also Kylie Jenner's right-hand, has long accompanied her BFF to the festival. But since amassing an 8-million-people following of her own, it's no wonder people would turn to Woods's Instagram accounts for style inspiration as well.
Jared Leto
You may not be able to tell, but this is Jared Leto traversing the fields at Coachella 2017. Because celebrities usually have to walk among the ranks of the rest of us peasants, it's common for many of them to find a way to cover up their faces for obvious reasons. In Jared's case, he opted for a black surgical mask.
Jared wore a Gucci Washed tee with Donald Duck on the front, as well as a Gucci studded denim jacket. He may not have wanted to be seen but he definitely stood out in a neon pink beanie and red track pants.
Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid was feeling white-on-denim vibes when it came to Coachella 2018. Perhaps she had taken style inspiration from Shay Mitchell's outfit the previous year. Regardless, Bella looks absolutely comfortable and cute in a white crop top and denim shorts.
With this look, it's clearly all about the accessories and Bella had done herself a favor by adding that gold body chain. In a nod to the '90s, Bella sports thin-framed sunglasses and her scrunchie is color-coordinated with her belt and top. She definitely knew how to beat the desert heat.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid was seen at Coachella 2018 in an understated outfit that was sure to let her go unnoticed, that is, unless someone saw her face. Like her little sister that year, Gigi went for a body chain underneath a fitted crop top, except the eldest Hadid was feeling a neutral beige for her look.
Gigi blinged out her look with necklaces, but for the most part, kept things relatively simple. This effortless look was sure to maximize comfort as she walked around the festival that day. Good thing she had a hot dog and lemonade to fuel her up.
Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian sported clothes from Yeezy Season 7 at Coachella 2018. The eldest "K" sister supported her brother-in-law's fashion line by wearing his then-latest offerings in the Coachella Valley.
Kourtney wore a fitted spandex bra top with bike shorts in a stand-out fluorescent yellow. She may have had three kids already, but Kourtney never lets anyone forget how awesome her body is now and this was possibly one of the best ways to show it off. The outfit was topped off with quintessential Yeezy sneakers and a belt bag at the waist.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner made appearances at Coachella 2018 in this camel pleather-looking outfit that is definitely stylish but not at all practical for the desert. In true Kylie fashion, she donned one of her fabulous wigs and this occasion called for bright, neon pink hair that stood out against her otherwise neutral look.
Kylie surprised everyone that year she posted a photo of herself at the event, referencing Mean Girls with the caption "I'm not a regular mom I'm a cool mom." Indeed, people were surprised she was even there just a couple months after delivering her baby Stormi.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton donned what she called "#BrideVibes" at Coachella 2018. Paris wore an intricate white lace gown by Michael Costello, who designed the dress specifically for the annual desert music and arts festival.
The dress itself appears to leave little to the imagination but it's nothing that some cute white bikini bottoms can't fix. Paris accessorized with an obligatory flower crown and a pink backpack. She wore these white-rimmed cat-eye sunnies but was also seen later in the day in heart-shaped sunglasses. But no accessory screams Paris Hilton more than her tiny dog!
Patrick Schwarzenegger
Patrick Schwarzenegger was seen at Coachella 2017 with his girlfriend, fellow model Abby Champion. Abby's look is much like many of the others we've seen on this list but Patrick mixes things up when it comes to men's fashion at this event.
Patrick wears a blue Bengal tiger bowling shirt made by Gucci, who might as well be the official designer of Coachella at this point. He accessorized his look with a printed bandana. When worn over the face it not only serves as excellent undercover gear for celebs, but also keeps kicked-up dust out of one's mouth and nose.
Alessandra Ambrosio
Alessandra Ambrosio is another celebrity who is always seen at Coachella. The Victoria's Secret model never fails to show up to the event, with peace signs in the air and fully immersed in the moment.
At Coachella 2018, Alessandra wore plenty of different outfits but we're particularly fans of this one she wore for Eminem, who was the biggest headliner on the third day. She wore a white bikini top underneath a fishnet crop top and black short shorts. The textured jacket and extra-high high top sneakers give Alessandra's entire look just the right amount of edge.
Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts went to Coachella 2016 in a leather polka dot skirt with a white top and classic red Converse high tops. Emma completed the look with an embroidered black bomber jacket. The Scream Queens actress at the time also posted a photo promoting her Coach 1941 bag for the brand.
Aside from crop tops and cut-off shorts, we can't think of a better combo like skirts and sneakers to serve cute looks at Coachella. It's the best way for your feet to survive three days of walking around in the desert heat.
Diplo
Diplo turned up at Coachella 2018 in a tie-dye tee and what appear to be some green leather pants. To accessorize, he opted for some round Chanel sunglasses and a black bandana printed with the infamous golden arches of McDonald's. The DJ stopped to take a photo with fellow DJ, Alison Wonderland, who was scheduled to play at that year's event.
Diplo made a surprise appearance on stage during MØ's set to perform one of their more recent collaborations, "Get It Right." He was also rumored to be flirting with Kendall Jenner at a Coachella-adjacent party at the time.
Victoria Justice
Victoria Justice coordinated with her sister, Madison Reed, for Coachella 2018. They both complemented each other's Coachella looks with sheer pearl-covered outfits. Victoria's was worn as a skirt paired with a black bralette and a statement necklace.
Meanwhile, her sister Madison opted for a sheer top over a black bralette and denim shorts. This was certainly one way to look both vampy and glam amid a crowd that was likely wrought with flower crowns and denim. Victoria was also spotted at a few Coachella-adjacent parties such as that thrown by H&M and Rachel Zoe.
Bella Thorne
Bella Thorne went to Coachella 2016 in the perfect disguise. Her purple wig wouldn't have lead anyone to believe that she was the girl from Disney Channel's Shake It Up, that is, until she took off her big, round sunnies.
Aside from her purple hair, the standout element of Bella's outfit has to be her black lace crop top, with long fringe along the sleeves. Like everyone else at the event, she wore denim shorts but Bella made hers fun by adding numerous patches to it. Her dark boho look was complete with plenty of necklaces.
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber was seen walking around the grounds of Coachella 2018 in this very colorful printed shirt and short set. Bieber was a central focus of many social media posts during this Coachella, as he was seen dancing alone, high-fiving other guests, partying with Post Malone, and meeting Mason Ramsey.
Justin took this picture with the band Greta Van Fleet who he made a point of seeing that year. He appears to have had quite a busy day in this photo as he can barely keep an eye open for it!
