Backstage Buzz At American Idol: After The Elimination

It was another night of elimination on American Idol and for Deandre Brackensick, it was time to say goodbye to the limelight…at least for now.

The 17-year-old who tried to get America back in the groove of R&B was voted off, but not without a positive attitude for the future!

When Buzznet caught up with Deandre after the show, he spilled on how Idol has changed his life!

“The experience was humbling,” he said. “Idol brought out me and I’m glad I brought out me. I’m going to [go home and] go to a prom and actually enjoy it. Every dance I’ve ever had I was either a ticket taker or coat taker because I was so uncomfortable with myself. I’ll probably take one of my friends.”

Deandre also said the judges critiques and support isn’t just for the cameras!

“What you get on stage is what you get behind the scenes,” he smiled. “They are amazing people, even Jimmy [Iovine]! I have so much respect for Jimmy, even though it’s not always good [feedback] or never good, it’s nice to hear that. Because I don’t learn just from good. I respect him to the fullest for giving me that push, for giving me that drive.”

With stiff competition in the music industry, Deandre told us he’s not shooting to be a mega-star, he just wants to get R&B the respect it deserves.

“We’re struggling for R&B artists now,” he said. “We’re in a pop world now. I don’t even want to be a huge star, I just want to make it known that it’s still here that it’s still music.”

Deandre may be out, but there are still seven Idols left! Who do you want to see go all the way to the finale?
