Lady Gaga Covers V Magazine’s ‘Asia Issue’?

This morning I stopped by a tiny magazine shop called “12 HR PHOTO” hoping to find an issue of Dazed & Confused magazine. I walked in and was accosted by a large display of cigars, questionable magazines, and a posse of middle aged men. So I didn’t really want to ask if they carried Dazed. Instead, I hastily passed the “adult” rack and sifted through the pile of Vogues, L’Officiels, and Elles until I found something I would be willing to buy. I ended up with V Magazine’s much buzzed-about “Asia Issue” (click here for a previous post on it). The issue presents profiles on a number of Asian athletes, actors, and musicians, in addition to editorials featuring a cast of all-Asian models. It’s great except for one thing — Lady Gaga is on the cover. I thought this was an Asian issue. Spreading appreciation for Far Eastern culture by putting a white chick wearing a black-haired wig on the cover is completely counterintuitive. It’s like, “oh hey, there are so many talented Asian celebrities and we’re going to give them the spotlight because apparently Asians are trendy now; therefore, we’re going to introduce this issue with a non-Asian!” It totally makes sense…
