It’s That Time of Year: Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2011

It’s Pre-Fall time! Oh the joy, the joy of the season.

First up is Oscar de la Renta’s collection. Do I like? I do. Very, very much.

The collection’s classic glamour (and patent leather stilettos) gave me a Lanvin sort of vibe, while the touches of tweed-like fabrics and clean style lines reminded me of Chanel’s Spring 2011 collection. de la Renta succeeded at creating a cohesive collection that incorporates bold color choices (the hot pink and bright teal) and smoothly transitions to more earthy, neutral tones.

My only complaint: two of the gowns are paired with a vivid (silk?) headscarf, which exudes a middle-eastern feel. If that was de la Renta’s motive, he has succeeded. If not, it really doesn’t help the models looked a little exotic. In my opinion, the headscarves clash with the classic look of the rest of the collection.

What do you think? Which designer’s Pre-Fall collections are you most excited to see?
