Haute Couture Dolls
Artist and illustrator Andrew Yang doesn’t make your typical rag doll. These are designer dolls—they wear the latest garments by designers such as Marc Jacobs, Rick Owens and Lanvin. Yang calls them Kouklitas, derived from the Russian word, koukla, meaning doll. He cuts each Kouklita from a pattern, sews, stuffs and paints them by hand. The end result is amazing. You have to see it to believe it.
Yang also makes “character” dolls. He even takes custom-made orders.
Unfortunately, these dolls come at a very high price. They are sold at Barney’s for over $1,000!
