Funniest Moments In Music History

In Russell Brand’s new film, Get Him To The Greek, you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be hi-jinks aplenty. Rowdy rock Aldous Snow (Brand) is about to embark on a tour of the most epic proportions, escorted along the way by Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill). Hilarity ensues as Greenberg bites off more than he can chew when accepting this task, all thanks to a few strategically placed exaggerations he created when seeking out his dream job as an assistant.

The plot to this movie got the gears in our head grinding. With Brand and Hill’s unique styles of comedy and performance, there is bound to be some comedic, musically inspired gold. Let’s take a look at some of the gems we dug up in our search for music’s funniest moments.

5. “Trapped In The Closet” – R. Kelly

Touted as “a cautionary tale for the urban male trying to keep it real” –Wiki, the “Trapped in the closet” saga is composed of things so fantastical only the genius of R. Kelly could create them. This is basically the R&B version of Lambchop’s “This is the song that never ends.” At a jaw dropping 22 chapters, with each one being a few minutes in length, R. Kelly revealed that there are another 15 chapters to be released when the public demands them. If taking your sad fictions that seriously isn’t hilarious, I don’t know what is.

4. Ashley Simpson’s SNL Catastrophe

Mishaps can be embarrassing. They are even more embarrassing when you’re on national TV and you start singing the wrong song before your microphone even gets to your mouth. As if being busted for lip-syncing wasn’t bad enough, Ashlee Simpson put her other foot in the grave when she started doing that hokey little impromptu dance.

3. Kanye West Ruining Taylor Swift’s MTV VMA Acceptance Speech

Everyone loves an underdog. We love when new talent triumphs over the long standing dominators of any given area, bringing a fresh face to the scene. Well, that is, everyone but Kanye West. During Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, Kanye stormed the stage and declaired Beyonce to have the greatest video of all time. OF ALL TIME!

2. Insane Clown Posse’s “Gathering of the Juggalos” Infomercial

This festival brings together all the artists that are on Psychopathic Records for one massively packed, fun filled, party weekend. Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J will bring you the most banal of activities which include but are not limited to – rotting your teeth with Faygo soda, fresh ass comedy tents, hay rides, and a barbecue beach backyard blowout bonanza (or whatever it’s called).

1. This Is Spinal Tap

In this mock rockumentary, director Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) follows around the running out of juice super group that is Spinal Tap. Exploding drummers and midgets that tower over Stonehenge stage props due to mislabeled sketch dimensions will have you wishing the volume level on your TV went to eleven.
