Chasing Shadows……Chapter Forty-Six
“Afraid not” the driver says.
“But we have to be in another state the day after tomorrow!” Tomo says.
“Well, maybe I can call and see if there are any buses there, but you might have to fly there” the driver says.
“Wonderful” Shannon mutters.
Meanwhile, Jared looks torn between screaming, and jumping the driver to kick his ass.
Gabrielle and Emily see this and then Emily says, “Ok ok, let’s get chill for a minute and get this straightened out”
The others agree, and Jared finally tenses down.
“Good, now there is a hotel just around the corner from here, I know cause I saw it as we were driving over here. So here’s what we do. We call to see if they have rooms, and if not I’m sure there are other hotels around who do. After that, we get our stuff out of here, and then we just walk over to wherever and then figure things out from there. Let just from get from A to B, and worry about C and D when we relax a little” Gabrielle says.
Everyone agrees on it.
“Sounds like a plain to me” Jared says calmly now.
“Ok, lets finish up the meet and greet and then we’ll get the hotel on the phone” Tomo says now walking off.
“Wait, your still doing it?” Gabrielle asks.
“Yeah, we say you guys getting off and we thought something was wrong, so we excused ourselves for a minute to run over, they didn’t seem to mind” Jared says smiling.
“Oh, we’ll hurry up and get back over there! And we’ll take care of the hotel” Emily says.
“Oh cool thanks!” Jared says as he and Shannon now head off.
“Ok, now lets get a phonebook and call. Do you remember the name of the hotel?” Emily says now going on the bus with a flashlight to look for a phonebook.
“Um, Red Rose something” Gabrielle says fallowing her.
“Red Rose Hotel?” Emily asks her looking through the book.
“Yeah, think so”
“Got it”
Emily then calls, and, thankfully, she lucks out.
“Ok, they have three more rooms available. So, Shan and Me get one, Tomo can have one to himself, and you and Jared can have the other. Cool?” she says getting off the phone now.
“Yeah, awesome” Gabrielle says smiling.
“Good, now lets get this stuff out of here and wait for the guys” Emily says now getting her bags together.
Thirty minutes later the boys return.
“We got rooms at the hotel around the corner. Emily called and lucked out” Gabrielle says now coming out of the bus.
“Oh awesome!” Shannon says now going inside.
“Better get our stuff then” Tomo says going in as well.
“So, how many rooms do we have?” Jared asks Gabrielle.
“Three. Tomo can have one for himself, Shannon and Emily will have one…” Gabrielle begins.
“Uh-oh” Jared then cuts off Gabrielle while smirking.
“I know, but you and I get the other one” Gabrielle smiling.
“Sweet” Jared says now smiling as well.
The two then head in and then everyone gets their bags off and then boys say they have to go back to get their gear so then there two trips, and then Shannon says he forgot a bag so back again, so it takes about an hour to get everyone and everything together and in the hotel.
“We’re gonna need those cart things” Jared says as they check in.
“No kidding!” Gabrielle says laughing as she looks over to the huge pile of bags and gear on the floor.
So about a half an hour later everyone gets their stuff together and in their own rooms and then once that’s done they all head down to the lobby for coffee and to figure out what to do next.
“Ok, so I was thinking to call the airport and see if we can get ticket’s to the next state from later, since it’s self obvious that we’re screwed with the bus” Gabrielle says as they all sit at the lounge in the lobby.
“Good idea. Did anyone hear from the driver yet about a re-placement bus?” Shannon says.
“Nope, I’ll give him a call now” Jared says now whipping out his blackberry.
As he does that, Gabrielle calls the airport, while Emily checks prices from other airport’s on-line on her blackberry.
“Ok, got it all set” Gabrielle says now hanging up.
“Are they the same price as the other ones I told you about?” Emily asks.
“Actually their a bit cheaper” Gabrielle says.
“Good cause the rooms are gonna be pricey enough, and we already put a lot of money in this tour” Shannon says.
“Oh really? Well, how about me and Gabs pay for half of the rooms far?” Emily says trying to help.
“Yeah, my unemployment should have kicked in by now” Gabrielle says.
“Your what?” Tomo says looking confused.
“I’ll explain later” Gabrielle says.
Then Jared gets off the phone.
“Haven’t found anything yet, but he’ll keep looking” Jared says.
“Sure, that’ll turn out well” Shannon then says sarcastically.
“Yeah. So how about the plane tickets?” Jared then says to Gabrielle.
“We leave at eight am the day after tomorrow” Gabrielle says.
“Really? You got it set?!”
“Yep”
“Awesome!”
“Well, at least a few things turned out alright. I’m starving, lets get something to eat and then hit bed” Tomo says now getting up.
They all agree and then head out to find an all night diner.
A few hours later they return and then drag themselves to bed.
“Oh crap, I think I’ve left my jacket in the lobby” Gabrielle says to Jared halfway up the stairs.
“Oh ok, lets go down and see” Jared says.
The two then say bye to the others and then head back down stairs.
“By the way Gabs, I want to say thanks for keeping things together tonight. You and Emily. I was about to lose it so…I wouldn’t have been any good” Jared says to Gabrielle as they walk.
“Oh, it was no prob” Gabrielle says turning red a bit.
“No really, that was awesome of you” Jared says now stopping her and then giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“You are such a flatter!” Gabrielle teasing.
Jared laughs and then the two hit the bottom of the stairs.
“Ah, here it is” Gabrielle says now picking her jacket up off one of the lobby’s sofas.
“Good, now lets get some sleep” Jared says now taking Gabrielle’s hand and the walking back upstairs.
As they go pass Shannon and Emily’s room, they notice a “Do Not Disturb” sign hanging from the doorknob.
“Well, thank god we’re not next to their room” Jared says laughing as they walk into their own.
“Yeah. But poor Tomo’s gonna be kept up all night with them!” Gabrielle says laughing as well.
