Chasing Shadows……Chapter Thirty-Five
The next morning:
Shannon yelling in her ear suddenly awakes Gabrielle.
“Gab get up! Were finally in town!”
Gabrielle bolts upright and hits her head on the bunk above her.
“Ouch! Damn it Shannon!” she yells now getting out of the bunk and pulling on a robe.
“Well you should watch your head when you get up like that” Shannon says.
“Would love to, if some damn two year old doesn’t yell in my ear!” Gabrielle says.
“That’s what I always call him” says Jared from the table reading a paper.
“Did we stop earlier?” Gabrielle then asks Jared looking at the paper.
“Nah, this is from two days ago. I got bored and just picked it up” Jared says now putting it down and then taking a sip of his coffee.
Gabrielle then notices his eyes are all blood shot and there are bags under his them.
“Did you sleep at all last night?” she asks him.
“Um, kinda. But I did get up in the middle of the night to do some work” Jared says thinking.
“At like what, four o’clock in the morning?!” Gabrielle asks.
“Um, yeah about that” Jared says.
“Dude” Gabrielle says now just shaking her head.
“Yeah, he’s been like this as far as I can remember” Shannon says now handing her a cup of coffee.
“Thanks. So, where’s Emily and Tomo?” Gabrielle says.
“Emily’s taking a shower and Tomo’s still asleep” Jared says.
“Not for long” Shannon says now walking over to Tomo’s bunk.
“Then Shannon rips open the curtain and pulls a sound asleep Tomo’s foot, nearly making him hit the floor”
“Wake up its morning!” Shannon then yells to him.
Poor Tomo wakes up in a heartbeat and then pull’s himself back on the bunk.
“Damn it Shannon stop doing that!” Tomo yells.
“Well then get up then” Shannon says now going back to his coffee.
“And this is why I like to be the first one awake” Jared says now picking up the paper again.
Gabrielle laughs at that and goes and pours Tomo a cup of coffee, she’s pretty sure he needs it.
A few hours later:
The bus at last pulls up to the arena the guys are playing tonight.
“Ok, lets get our gear set up” Jared says now grabbing a few cases filled with gear.
“Want some help?” the girls then ask the guys.
“Well, you two are going to walk about town right?” Tomo says to them.
“Yeah, but we can help first” Emily says.
“Ok then, grab a case” Tomo then says.
It takes about an hour for everything to be carried in and then set up.
Some guys who work at the arena try and help the guys set up, but Jared isn’t to keen with that.
“No, this goes there! Don’t drop it like that! WHAT THE HELL?!” Jared yells running around the stage fixing everything the workers put down.
“Oh boy” Shannon says as Gabrielle and Emily laugh at him and the looks on the workers face.
“Maybe you guys should leave this to us” Tomo then says to the workers with a smile.
“Yes, that would be very helpful if you did!” says a very angry Jared now sorting out the amps.
The workers nod their heads and then run to the exit.
“Well good job Jare, making new friends already?” Shannon then asks his brother.
“Oh shut it. Why they sent them here to “help us” is beyond me. Heave no idea what they were doing with half of this stuff. And another thing…” Jared rambles off.
“You too head off now for your sight seeing. We’ll take it from here” Tomo says to the girls.
“You sure?” Gabrielle asks.
“Yeah, we’ve managed to shut him up before” Tomo says.
The girls laugh at that and then say bye to the guys.
“Well, I think you’ve found your dream boy back there” Emily says to Gabrielle about Jared.
“Yeah well, at least he doesn’t wake people out of a sound sleep by yelling in their ear” Gabrielle says.
“What do you mean?” Emily asks.
Gabrielle just laughs and then tells her the morning she has had while the two walk into town.
