It's hard to picture life before television; so don't even try. It would be like imagining a time when their was no oxygen on Earth. Television is how humans form the communal consciousness that allows us to relate to one another as a species. Not every American high school graduate knows that the United States has put a man on the moon. But even dropouts and failures recognize that if that lunar event had not been televised, it would not have really happened.
