Wily and earnest, with a multilayer, controlled wildness, the sonic attacks of the Smashing Pumpkins were raw enough for a discriminating rock snob, but suave enough to deserve massive radio exposure. In Billy Corgan and friends, the music world had a cult band capable of headlining massive stadium tours. Naturally, sniping and dissension occurred, but the music will outlive the demise, especially since a retooled Smashing Pumpkins released Zeitgeist after a seven-year lull.

Many old fans like the new material, while others... don't. I have picked four bands and artists that many people I know have complained about.
