Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne started as an apprentice to Birdman in the short-lived group Hot Boys. But he eventually grew to become a successful solo artist based on his underground mixtapes. It was in 2004 ,with the release of Tha Carter, that saw a shift in Lil Wayne's career from the underground to mainstream. A year later Tha Carter Vol. 2., debuted at number two on the Billboard album chart.
