Famous people aren't like the rest of us. You and me, if we walk down the street and everybody is staring at us, we assume a sheet of toilet paper is stuck to our shoe. When real life celebrities do walk down the street, the rest of us can't help staring at them, and they look back at us as though we are a sheet of toilet paper stuck to their shoe. In the past, celebrity was largely tied to individual accomplishment. People were famous doing or having done something. Celebrity is a much more democratic designation today.
