Update on Next Cobra Starship CD

So, remember when Cobra Starship locked themselves in a cabin and worked on songs for their third CD? You know, the anticipated follow-up to 2007’s Viva La Cobra? And the streamed video on StickAM so fans could watch?

Well, Rolling Stone has some new details on the upcoming album.

While we don’t have a title yet, we do have a tentative release month of July—and we know that some production work was done by Fall Out Boy lead singer Patrick Stump, who also worked on Viva. Oh, and at least one tentative track title was revealed, which is a straight up pop-punk song reportedly called “Pete Wentz Is the Only Reason We’re Famous.”

Gabe describes the idea behind the album as, “We want to make a soundtrack for going out on the town.” Considering their previous cd’s were both full of dance-friendly pop, that sounds like a pretty safe bet.

Oh, and be sure to watch the video at RollingStone.com. Ryland, Gabe and Victoria inform fans of how they want the new album to…um…smell.

Excited about Cobra’s new album? Planning to catch them on the Believers Never Die Part Deux Tour with Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Metro Station, Hey Monday and, on select dates, 50 Cent?
