Lady Gaga Finally Addresses Those Romance Rumors With Bradley Cooper

Remember earlier this year when Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper took over the internet with romance rumors—especially after their 2019 Oscars performance? Well, Gaga is finally speaking up about those swirling rumors and apparently, it's what they wanted us to think all along.

In a new interview by Oprah Winfrey for Elle magazine, the 33-year-old singer addresses the rumors that the two of them were a couple in real life after they played a couple in the film A Star Is Born. The rumors especially intensified after their emotional performance of the Oscar-winning song "Shallow" during the 2019 Academy Awards.

"Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly," Gaga says of all the press speculation. "I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love."

"We wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on," she continues. "And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing out -- it was orchestrated as a performance. In truth, when we talked about it, we went, 'Well, I guess we did a good job!'"

They absolutely did. Many people were shocked at their raw, emotional piano performance of the song. It also didn't help that Gaga had just recently announced the separation from her fiancé Christian Carino.

Despite their onscreen chemistry, Winfrey told Gaga that during an earlier conversation with Cooper he revealed that he'd never have been able to get that intense chemistry onscreen if they were actually in love in real life.

"We were talking about all the rumors about you guys last year. He said if they had been true, he never would have been able to look you in the eye sitting at that piano," Winfrey tells Gaga. "He said his Catholic guilt would have never let him be able to look you in the eye at that piano."

Sorry, everyone, it looks like we played right into their hands. Turns out they're just excellent at acting because they had the whole world believing it, despite Cooper being in a relationship at the time.
