There’s A Barney Movie On The Way With Daniel Kaluuya

Everyone's favorite big purple dinosaur is getting the chance to shine on the silver screen. Daniel Kaluuya has partnered with Mattel to bring a live-action Barney movie, which may seem like a weird mix considering he's best known for his role in the horror film Get Out.

The purple dinosaur was made famous on the children's television show Barney & Friends that aired 1992 to 2009.

"Barney was a ubiquitous figure in many of our childhoods, then he disappeared into the shadows, left misunderstood. We're excited to ... see if his message of 'I love you, you love me' can stand the test of time," Kaluuya told The Hollywood Reporter.

He is producing the film through his newly-created production company, 59%. Mattel Films promised that the movie "will resonate with adults while entertaining today's kids."

"Working with Daniel Kaluuya will enable us to take a completely new approach to Barney that will surprise audiences and subvert expectation," said Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Films.

What exactly does that mean? Who knows, but hopefully we don't get a Barney meets Get Out style film because that would be the ultimate horror movie.
