Noami Watts-Led ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Canceled at HBO

It’s a sad day for all of us Game Of Thrones fans out there. With the series coming to an end earlier this year, the idea of a spin-off series was super exciting. However, the untitled Game of Thrones prequel from Jane Goldman is not moving forward at HBO.

Goldman’s pilot featured Naomi Watts as a lead and was filmed this past summer. It is said to focus on the “Age of Heroes” and the first battle between man and White Walkers. However, it will not be advancing to series according to The Hollywood Reporter. According to sources, the cast was notified by an email from Goldman. HBO declined to comment on the cancelation, as they usually do with projects in development.

However, don’t be too crushed. This sad news comes as word about a second pilot based on Game of Thrones nears a deal with HBO. This series comes from the minds of author George R.R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal and is said to focus on the reign of Targaryens in the lead up to the events of Game of Thrones.

This pilot would align much closer with the original Game of Thrones series than Goldman’s series would have. As long as there is some sort of new GOT content coming, we’re happy!
