Nicki Minaj Announces She’s Married

Surprise! Barbie has found her Ken. One of the queens of rap, Nicki Minaj, announced that she got married with an Instagram post (because how else would you do it in 2019?) The rapper made the news official that she married partner Kenneth Perry on October 21st, 2019.

Minaj uploaded a video to Instagram showcasing a set of Mr. and Mrs. mugs, and a bride and groom baseball cap with the caption "Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19" , which is her new name, announcing she would be taking her husband's last name.

The couple has been sparking marriage rumors for months after they obtained a marriage license in July, renewed it in August and had 90 days to make it official. They made their relationship Instagram official at the end of 2018. It may seem like they're relationship has been moving quickly, but that's because when they got together in 2018 they were rekindling an old flame. The two of them used to be together in high school.

The news of the marriage comes after the rapper recently announced she'd be retiring from the music industry to start a family.

"I've decided to retire and have my family ... To my fans, keep reppin me. Do it til da death of me, in the box—cuz ain't nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE," Minaj tweeted on September 5th.

She's since clarified the tweet by saying that she was referring to her fifth album. She has music already recorded to come out but isn't sure if she wants to head back to the studio to make another album.

"It was really about the fifth album," Nicki said. "Where do I stand with it now? I didn't know my fans would act like that with the tweet. It hurt my feelings because I feel like the way I did it was maybe insensitive to my fans. But I didn't think people were going to take it ... I didn't know it was going to be that big of a deal, so that's why I deleted it."

We're dying to know what she wore to tie the knot! Knowing her, it was probably something amazingly outrageous. Congrats to the newlyweds!
