Jason Momoa Gives Speech On Climate Change At The UN
We all know Jason Momoa is a huge climate change advocate. He once shaved his iconic Drogo beard to raise awareness for the environment and a canned water brand he was partnering with. Now, Aquaman is taking it upon himself to help fight climate change once again with a speech at the UN.
The 40-year-old actor detailed the effect of global warming on the Earth’s oceans in his speech.
“The oceans are in a state of emergency. Entire marine ecosystems are vanishing with the warming of the seas, and as the waste of our world empties into our waters, we face the devastating crisis of plastic pollution,” said Momoa.
The former Game of Thrones‘ star added that he believes that humans are “the disease” wrecking the planet with pollution.
“We are a disease that is infecting our planet. As a human species, we need the earth to survive. But make no mistake – the earth doesn’t need us,” said Momoa.
Momoa is originally from Hawaii and says that island nations are not contributing to pollution as much as other areas. He explained that those areas are the ones that often bear the consequences.
His speech at the UN comes after he participated in recent protests in his home state. The protests revolve around the dormant volcano Mauna Kea and the building of a new telescope. Gotta love a man who loves his planet!
