Lizzo Breaks A ‘Billboard’ Chart Record

Powerhouse singer and rapper Lizzo is continuing to make history with her music. A few weeks ago she became the sixth female rapper to ever top the 'Billboard' Hot 100 singles chart. This week, she broke a record on the very same chart.

Her hit song "Truth Hurts" is number one on the Hot 100 chart for the fourth straight week. The single has now spent the most consecutive weeks at number one for any solo female rapper. The song surpassed Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" which previously held the record for three weeks straight in number 2017. Before that, Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop [That Thing]" held the record for spending two weeks at number one in 1998.

She shared a message of thanks to her fans on her Instagram page.

"Truth Hurts is officially the longest solo female rap #1 in history. I fell in love with music when I was 9 years old… I had no idea our love affair would go this far," said the singer. "Good to know it was all worth it."
