Model and actor Indya Moore became the first transgender model in history to pose for the cover of Elle, a fashion and entertainment magazine. Elle Magazine in Brazil and the United Kingdom had already featured trans people on their covers in 2016, and now the American magazine follows suit.

Indya, who identifies as nonbinary, also interviewed for a feature in the magazine chronicling their experiences with foster care, gender and sexuality, and sex trafficking as a teenager. They were raised Jehovah's Witness, with a Puerto Rican mother and Catholic father, assigned male at birth. Some of their stories influenced their role as Angel Evangelista in the FX show Pose.

"Thank you for having me as your first experience covering a trans person. I know I will not be the last," Indya thanked Elle on Twitter recently.

This isn't the only significant coverage of Indya in 2019. Time magazine also listed them in the top 100 list of world's most influential people for this year.

Indya, 24, began modeling at age 15 and has posed for New York Fashion Week, Dior, and Gucci. They have also acted in Saturday Church, Saturday Night Live, and Katy Perry's music video "Swish Swish."

Indya's feature is already up on Elle's website and newest issue. Check out their Louis Vuitton outfits and her amazing life story!
