Now’s the time to be honest. Before you read her name, have you ever heard of Breanna Stewart? Many are unaware of the stars from the WNBA, and this was the point Stewart was trying to make. There needs to be a shift in gender equality in sports media.
Stewart continued to explain how she was highly recognized while playing college hoops, but once she hit the WNBA, that all changed. “I am trying to understand why we as professional athletes don’t receive anywhere near the fame,” Stewart says. “This has to change.”
