Festival Recap: BUKU Music + Art Project

Thousands of festivalgoers gathered at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans, Louisiana recently for a weekend full of music performances, live artists, roaming performers, and the late night debauchery that is BUKU Music + Art Project.  Tucked right in the heart of New Orleans’ Lower Garden District, BUKU’s intimate industrial setting fit perfectly with their fusion of relevant EDM, hip-hop and indie rock.  I loved the lineup, providing us with a unique twist of artists including Bassnectar, Sza, Migos, MGMT, Virtual Self, Illenium… and everything in between. Each stage had its own different feel to it.

BUKU definitely strengthened its presence as a wild, eclectic, and urban oasis of music and art.  From the signature BUKU Graffiti Wall to the classic New Orleans food to the dozens of pop-up street performers and art exhibits brought on-site, it blended the rich traditions of New Orleans with the progressive attitude of our youthful culture.  Needless to say, This has definitely solidified BUKU as one of my favorite festivals and I will definitely be attending again in 2019.
