5 Ways To Beat The Post-Holiday Blues

Now that the holidays are over, a lot of you may fall under the category of “depressed AF” since there’s not much to look forward to anymore. The post-holiday blues are never fun but there are ways to get yourself back on track rather than wallowing in lazy potato mode for the next week and a half! There’s no question that 2016 sucked, so now that it’s a brand new year, it’s time to recharge and refocus! Here are five ways to beat the post-holiday blues:

1. Pick up a new hobby.

Ever had something you’ve always wanted to do but you kept putting it off for unknown reasons? Now’s the time to get up and go do it! Plus, after a long week at work, nothing’s better than chilling out on the weekends with your newfound hobby!

2. Do things that give you a sense of fulfillment and excitement!

I recently received a turntable as a Christmas gift and it’s kept me super happy/busy as I collect my favorite albums on vinyl. Find that one thing that always puts a smile on your face and enjoy yo self!

3. Make healthier choices.

I think it’s safe to say that we all pigged out over the holidays. From the endless candy on Halloween to the yummy homemade food and goodies from Thanksgiving to Christmas – not to mention the New Years parties – calories were not a concern at all during the holidays. No biggie. Make a plan to eat healthier this year. Your body will thank you for it.

4. Plan ahead.

Set goals that you want to accomplish by the end of the year and do anything in your power to make it all happen! They don’t have to be big. Start small and work your way up. Seek out new opportunities for personal and professional growth. It’s easy to feel stagnant, especially if you’ve been in the same job for quite some time. Remember: no goal is ever too big to achieve.

5. Treat yo self!

OK so I know I said to eat healthier but there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to a few goodies every once in a while. For me, a perfect treat day consists of a dark chocolate cupcake from Sprinkles and a record store binge…maybe some new clothes to start my 2017 wardrobe! Whatever brings you comfort, enjoy it! Life is too short to miss out.
