#FBF – Why We Miss The Spice Girls

It’s Friiiiday! So naturally, it’s a great time to tell me what you want what you really, really want. I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want – more freaking SPICE GIRLS! Ugh, don’t you long for the days of Girl Power, absurd outfits, and sugary sweet pop hits? I sure do. Here are 10 reasons we miss Posh, Ginger, Baby, Sporty, and Scary Spice AKA The Spice Girls:
Girl Power, Obviously: I mean, duh. GIRL POWER forever. They made being a chick and hanging with your girlfriends the coolest thing on the planet.
Their Completely Insane Moon Shoes: The Spice Girls always gave us maximum ’90s pop star realness. And the shoes… good lord the shoes. Special props to Baby Spice who always seems to be in six inch platform boots.
Deciding What Spice Girl You Were: This was always the great debate within any friend group. Do you base it on looks or personality? Because, I’m like totally a Baby, but I look more like Posh, but I really wish I was a Ginger. Decisions, decisions!
Their Super Easy Dance Moves: Unlike *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and female pop stars like Britney Spears, you could totally crush The Spice Girls dance moves, no problem.
Spice World, The Movie: Talk about a weird and random roller coaster of Spice Girl-iness! After seeing this flick, I totally thought they toured the world in a double decker bus with a swing in it.
All The Merchandise: Spice Girls merchandise was serious business. I mean, they had lollipops, dolls, clothing, lunch boxes, calendars, jewelry… anything you could put a logo on basically.
The Hitzzzz: Where do we even begin? The Spice Girls have so many jams. From “Wannabe” and “Say You’ll Be There,” to “Stop” and “Spice Up Your Life”… it’s just an endless stream of pop perfection.
The Way They Got You Hyped Like No Other Group: The Spice Girls music + image formed a very unique, perhaps never to be repeated chemical reaction in the brains of young girls everywhere. They were a special unicorn that got you stoked like nothing else!
The Outfits: You always aspired to look like Posh, but really you were jealous of Sporty because she always got to wear track pants and sweatshirts.
“2 Become 1”: Um, the most sexual song ever. But, tweens everywhere were singing along. At least they included the line “Put it on, put it on.” Safe sex, ya’ll!
