5 Bad Ass Music Babes & What They’re Doing Now

We’ve been hooked on these five bad ass babes ever since they first started making waves in the music industry. However, it takes work to maintain all they’ve accomplished, and sometimes the journey of creating new material doesn’t magically happen as fast as fans want it to. But have no fear! We’ve got the scoop on what these ladies are up to. What a time to be alive!

Sky Ferreira

It’s been almost three years since Sky Ferreira released her killer debut album, Night Time, My Time. You’re probably still as obsessed with “You’re Not The One” and “24 Hours” as much as we are.  While the singer is no stranger to label drama and album delays – Night Time, My Time took some five years to be materialized after a long fight with Columbia and EMI and the singer had some beef with her UK label, Polydor last summer – according to Sky’s Instagram post this past New Year’s Eve, it looks like we’ll be getting a new album, Masochism, sometime this year! The singer went on to state, “I refuse to put out something that isn’t honest. It’s not something that I can force out. If I was to do it any sooner I either would have been compromising myself & anyone listening.” That’s how it’s done, folks.

Charli XCX

Charli XCX has a pretty interesting discography. From her 2013 debut, True Romance, to the 2014 Top 40 smash, Sucker, which ultimately landed her on the charts with “Boom Clap” and “Break The Rules.” Now, the singer is ready for a new chapter. Her Vroom Vroom EP just dropped a few weeks ago on her brand new record label, Vroom Vroom Recordings, which also houses new, handpicked artists from Charli herself that showcases the best of up-and-coming futuristic pop acts. Her third album is set to be released sometime this year as well. We guess her plan of taking over the world is happening!

Banks

Banks captured our hearts when she first burst onto the indie scene in 2013 with her edgy track, “Waiting Game,” and again in 2014 with the release of her debut album, Goddess. Last fall, the singer dropped a teaser track, “Better,” – a taste of what’s to come from album two, we hope! Every woman needs a little Banks in their life to feel like a bad ass bitch. Just sayin’.

FKA twigs

It’s quite evident that FKA twigs has something special going on that’s pretty hard to emulate if you’re not the UK singer yourself. While most of the world may know her as the girl Twilight star, Robert Pattinson, is engaged to, her music is what really shines in our book. Her 2014 debut album, LP1, was a major success and her third EP, 2015’s M3LL155X (pronounced Melissa), was a groundbreaking release for the singer. There have been rumors of a sophomore record on the horizon in 2016 but no official announcement has been made yet. Fingers crossed!

LIGHTS

LIGHTS is known for a lot of awesome things, but one of them is creating acoustic companions for every album she’s released. If you loved her 2014 release, Little Machines, get ready because Midnight Machines, the singer’s third acoustic release is on its way April 8! Judging from first single, “Meteorites,” this is, without a doubt, going to be her best one yet. A small tour kicks off this May. Tickets and dates can be found here.
