Even though we had lukewarm feelings about Zayn Malik‘s debut single, “Pillowtalk,” his solo career is seemingly on fire. He’s hit #1 in 68 countries, has over 100 million view of his video on YouTube, and is being asked to be the musical guest on A-list late night talk shows like The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
Last night, Zayn stepped behind the late night mic to premiere his new single, “It’s You.” Taking on a darker, moody persona, Zayn sang about his former relationship with Little Mix singer, Perrie Edwards. Navigating through heartache and the reasons for their split, Zayn showcased the kind of vocals only seasoned pros dare to try. Hitting long standing high notes and bringing in breathy punctuation, “It’s You” fully expresses the heart wrenching truth everyone hates to face when ending a long term relationship.
