Exclusive: Behind-The-Scenes With Eden xo At LA Pride
NYC is currently buzzing with excitement over its annual Pride celebration this weekend, and if there’s one thing the LGBT community knows what to do, it’s party like there’s no tomorrow. Buzznet‘s own Buzzmaker Eden xo had first hand experience celebrating Pride in Los Angeles a week ago when she performed for the thousands in attendance, and is exclusively sharing a behind-the-scenes video of her time backstage, performing, and meeting multiple personalities who made a lasting impression!
Dressed in a custom Johnny Wujek ’90s inspired onesie, Eden commanded the dancing crowd as she moved through her signature tracks “Too Cool To Dance,” “The Weekend” and “Gold.” We had a chance to throw a few questions at Eden about Pride, her performance and why it meant so much for her to take part.
1.Why was performing at Pride important to you?
The gay community has always been so supportive of me. Pride is such an important celebration and I was honored to be a part of it.
2. How was this show different than other performances you’ve done?
It was definitely one of the bigger crowds I’ve played my new music to! I think there was something like 30,000 people in attendance so I HAD to go bigger with my show. I had kyro, dancers, my live band, the works! The energy was crazy!
3. What song got the biggest reaction from the crowd?
A song I performed called “Gold”… It’s an anthem about owning your sexuality and exercising the right to get to choose what to do with your own body. No one owns me… My punani drips gold.
4. Your outfit was insanely cool and designed by Johnny Wujek…what went into the planning of it?
It was inspired by Kelly Kapowski from Saved By The Bell! Johnny wanted to keep my look fun and summery and do something different than what everyone else was doing.
5. Who was your favorite person to meet at Pride?
Frankie Grande was a total sweetheart and he came up to me to let me know he loved my show and was a big fan. That was a highlight, especially because he is surrounded by talented artists like his sister [Ariana] all day.
6. After performing for thousands at such a high energy event, what’s your secret to falling asleep when you get home?
Don’t sleep… Just keep going! Sleep when the sun comes up!
7. What’s next? Summer plans?
New music is coming out soon! And my new video for “The Weekend” is dropping!
