Exclusive Interview: Secondhand Serenade Talks New Video, Tour & More!

I have been a fan of Secondhand Serenade over the years and am so excited to share the new music with you all! We even did a fun interview where we talk about tour, Maroon 5, the perfect tour bus and more! Enjoy 🙂

• How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Determined… Awesome… Undefeated 😉 boom hahaha

• For people who have yet to check you out, what sets your music apart from other artists?

I put a lot of myself into my music…not that other people don’t. I just involve myself in every aspect of the process…whether writing, composing, producing, playing the instruments all the way to the promotion and everything that goes into releasing it. It’s as much of a part of me as I am a part of it.

• Do you have any songs you love that you never play live?

I don’t play “Something More” very often and I really like that song. It’s the first song I ever produced on my own so it holds a special place in my heart. I should play it more….Ya I’m gonna play it more.

• You just released a music video for your song “Shake It off”. What was the inspiration behind that song?

I’ve been through a lot and I know what it’s like to feel like everything is going wrong. It’s easy to let it effect your mood which only makes more go wrong. I just wanted to write a song about taking the bad and moving on. If you spread positivity…good this will happen to you.

• What is one song you heard this year that you wish you wrote?

“Animals” by Maroon 5 is a pretty awesome song…not gonna lie.

• If you could design your dream tour bus, what would it look like?

My dream bus would have a full kitchen. I love to cook and it’s SO hard to eat well on tour. I don’t like to take the back lounge as a bedroom because I like to have the extra living space for me and the band, so bigger bunks would be awesome! Hey…why not throw a PS4 in every bunk while we’re at it. How about some sharper image massage chairs and a Dom dispenser. This is a dream bus right?

• What is your favorite venue to perform at in the U.S and why?

I really enjoy the midland theatre in Kansas City. I just think it’s a really beautiful venue and it has terrific sound.

• Do you have any advice for the readers who are trying to follow their dreams?

Ya, honestly you don’t have to be the biggest star out there to follow your dreams. That’s not what it’s about. Sometimes it works out that way but it’s up to you. Take a chance at something you love and you can’t lose.

• What can we look forward to from Secondhand Serenade in 2015?

A lot! I finally have a new record out so the new songs are here. I’m so excited to be back on tour and playing all the songs live. I’m so happy to finally be back and I’m ready to work so you’ll be seeing a lot of me.

• Empty your pockets…what was in there?

My wallet, my phone with a Mophie power station XL plugged into it, a couple receipts, and an obscene wad of dollar bills. I like to make it rain.

What do you all think of this new video?
