NBA Commish Fines Donald Sterling $2.5 Mil & Bans Him For Life (Video)

In a strongly worded statement, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver deemed the L.A. Clippers owners’ racist remarks as “deeply offensive” and “harmful”.

Adam stated:

“[Donald’s remarks are] contrary to the principles of inclusion and respect that form the foundations of our diverse, multi-cultural, and multi-ethnic league… I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the clippers organization or the NBA — Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any clippers facility, and he may not participate in any player or personnel decision involving the team… I am also fining Mr. Sterling $2,500,000, the maximum amount allowed under the bylaws of the NBA Constitution.”

Adam continued: “We stand together in condemning Mr. Sterling’s views, they have no place in the NBA”. He stated that he will do everything in his power to convince other owners into coaxing Donald to sell the team. Reportedly, in order to be able to remove Donald and force the sell of the L.A. Clippers, only needs 3/4 of the owners votes are needed. Adam assured the public that these fines will be donated to pertinent charities that are focused on promoting diversity.

Here is the video of the extended conversation that Donald had with his girlfriend V. Stiviano, telling her that Black Jews are 100 percent lesser than White Jews and to not bring any black people to the game.

Unfortunately, this is a real-life depiction of racism and discrimination that shows our society just how far we still need to go. It’s sad that this had to happen but hopefully we can all learn from the situation and make improvements in the way we treat others who are different than us.
