Everybody Wants To Fool The World: The Top 5 Best April Fools Day Pranks of 2014

Every year, I try to come up with a really good prank for April Fools Day but I always come up short. It looks like some of our favorite musicians, social media sites and gadgets took it upon themselves to create some innovative and amusing pranks this year. Here are my top five picks:

5. Samsung Introduces It’s First Wearable Glove, Samsung Fingers

If it weren’t April Fools, I’d be rolling my eyes right now. Sad things is, I can actually see people buying these in the future.

4. Cheeteau by Chester – Cheetos Perfume

If you’re dating a rodent, this will turn him on for sure. 😀

3. Tumblr Goes ‘Pro’

Tumblr got us good with their realistic ad for Tumblr Pro. Thinking they could get a free upgrade, users clicked on the button on the right-hand side of their dashboards which brought them to the video shown above. Once it finished playing, users were given a message, stating, “Here at Tumblr, we believe the sky’s the limit. We believe to achieve – all the way. Whether you’re livin’ it up, livin’ young, or headed straight for the top, nothing says Tumblr like high times. Take the next step with us. Built it. Go one step further.” Once the “activate” button was clicked, users’ avatars were decorated with a little top hat, displaying their foolishness to the world. Nice one, Tumblr. You’re cute.

2. Y2K.0 Music Festival

Refinery 29 made all of our childhood dreams seem like a possibility, only to be shot down as soon as we brought ourselves back to reality. Y2K.0 would have been the greatest music festival for the TRL generation. With teen favorites like NSYNC, Spice Girls, Savage Garden, and Mandy Moore together with Limp Bizkit, Incubus and Blink 182, I can only imagine the riots that would have ensued. If Carson Daly would have hosted this, I would have been a very happy girl. At the end of the day, I guess Refinery 29 did it all for the nookie. 😉

1. Tears For Fears Announce Kid Rock Collaboration

80’s duo Tears For Fears had me weary for a slight second this morning until I realized what day it was. The band announced they were releasing an “electro-country” album with Kid Rock titled, Songs From The Electric Chair, parodying their hit sophomore album’s title, Songs From The Big Chair. This one made me chuckle to myself all day. Well done, guys! I wonder if “Bawitdaba” will be featured on this one. Guess everybody wants to fool the world. 😛
