Band To Buzz About Spring ’14: DWNTWN
Los Angeles indie/synthpop band DWNTWN have been my newest obsession that I can’t wait to share with you guys. After stumbling upon their song, “Til Tomorrow,” on Spotify, I’ve been hooked, and their newly released self-titled EP is gorgeous perfection squeezed into 18 minutes. If The xx and States had a love child, this would be it’s product.
Consisting of singer Jamie Leffler, guitarist/vocalist Robert Cepeda, and keyboardist/bassist Chris Sanchez, DWNTWN have more than what it takes to knock out any preconceived notions of what a synthpop band should sound like. Blending banjos, handclaps, acoustic melodies and synths, you’re going to want to hit repeat to witness what you heard all over again.
Taking on a different approach from their previous material, the band’s third EP shines all on its own with a glimmering brilliance that I just can’t get enough of. If this is any indication of what their full-length is going to sound like I am sold for life.
