Lea Michele’s Cory Monteith Tribute, ‘If You Say So,’ Debuts: Listen

Lea Michele’s debut album, “Louder”, which is set to be released on March 3 of this year, is currently streaming in full on iTunes. “If You Say So” is a powerful ballad about the death of Michele’s “Glee” co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith who passed away last July. Take a listen below:

The setting of this incredible ballad occurs a week after the death of its anonymous subject. Throughout the course of the song, Michele repeats the phrase “seven whole days” trying to get rid the emptiness she feels during her time of grief. As she reminises on their last moment together, her emotions are conveyed strongly in the chorus: “You said I love you girl/ I said I love you more/And a breath, a pause, you said, if you say so/If you say so/If you say so.”

In this chilling dedication to Cory, Michele says it all in the final verse: “I check my phone and wait to hear from you in a crowded room/I thought we would grow old/Mirrors in the smoke/Left me here to choke.” As the music builds, the listeners feel the love and pain and get the chance to experience the grief alongside Michele.

Michele has finally allowed her fans into her world and with such a delicate situation as this, we are so proud of her for being so strong and open. The story of her and Cory continues to touch many lives and we are all supportive of Michele as she continues to grieve her loss in the healthiest way she knows how: through her music!
