Question Of The Day: Have You Ever Been A Part Of Something That Changed You?

Today is Veteran’s Day. This means that we here in Americatown remember all the people that served in the Armed Forces and stuff. You know, important people like Cotton Hill because he lost his shins in a battle in the South Pacific.

Not to toot my own horn (or bugle), I was also in the Armed Forces. Not that I was armed regularly or anything like that. Mostly I just hung out in the desert and did a bunch of stuff like get in trouble and things.
Sorry I’m shirtless. DON’T JUDGE MY BODY! That’s a Purple Heart some dude gave me because I stole his heart. He was injured when a roadside bomb exploded as his convoy drove passed it. I did win the medal next to it. That’s an Army Achievement Award that I got for basically clearning stuff while my battery was in Kuwait. I stayed back because I was crazy. It’s a long story. Those ripped photos of me were damaged when some butthole got mad at me because I didn’t want to cuddle him anymore. SADTIMES.

Anyway, it was weird being in the Army. It was also awesome. It’s pretty much when I grew up and finally dealt with who I was as a person. I came out to my family, I had a BF for the entire time I was in the military, and I got to meet all kinds of people I would’ve never met had I not been there.

My time in the desert taught me how to be okay with who I am and that underneath, everyone is pretty much the same. Well, that isn’t entirely true. If you’re really awful, chances are you suck a lot and in general, people are pretty awesome IF YOU GIVE THEM THE CHANCE.

All of that changed me. Probably forever. Even though it seems like a lifetime ago, I’ll always remember that time. I’m glad I did it. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t go through that mess.

Now it’s your turn. Tell me stuff. Oh and Happy Veteran’s Day! Yay!
