Music Mondays: We’re Not Meant To Be Punching Bags or The Subjects of Hostility

People Are People (Original Song) by Allie Johnston

People are people, why can’t anyone see, we’re not meant to be the subjects on the cover of a magazine.

I make mistakes, but you don’t see them in the paper the next day.

Shouldn’t every human have the right to live this way.

But no one cares until you’re broken, and lying on the floor.

I guess the world would be too perfect if we cared anymore.

People are people, why can’t anyone see?

We’re not meant to be punching bags or the subject of hostility.

We’re different, and who would ever want to be the same?

We hate so easily, but our hatred is in vain.

But no one stops until you’re broken and lying on the floor.

Becuase the world would be too perfect if we cared anymore.

People are people, oh isn’t it a shame?

We never learned to share our toys and we still call each other names.

We make mistakes we’re only human, at least that’s our excuse.

But being only human has just brought us bad news.

We’ll go unchanged until we’re broken and lying on the floor.

Just think the world could be so perfect if we cared a little more.

People are people, why can’t anyone see?

We’ve all got some good inside, if we’d only set it free.

We’re different, we’re bound to clash and knock each other down.

What counts is when we stand up and help each other off the ground.

Cause no one’s better than another, no one rises above us all.

So either help to lift us up, or watch us as we fall.
