Keep A Breast And My Story

This December will mark the ten year anniversary of my mom’s passing. She had breast cancer for six years, fought hard, and always always always had a smile on her face. I believe that a lot of my best qualities come from her, and when I feel down or lazy or upset I think about what SHE would do. A memory doesn’t live on by spending your time missing someone and reaching for the past. It lives on by making yourself the best person you can be and carrying on all the positivity that came from your loved one, like a torch. Run with it and shine it everywhere and light shit on fire!

Now, I am a person who can always find the bright side of any situation, but the truth is saying goodbye was tenfold the most challenging and impactful experience of my life. But luckily there are people who work everyday towards a future where no one has to deal with this terrible disease. Won’t that be perfect. I mean, it can be amazing to bond with people over common experiences, but that experience should not be losing a loved one to cancer. And it seems like everyone I talk to has been affected. 🙁 That’s why when I started talking to my Buzznet peeps, I mentioned wanting to tell a little bit of my story and raise awareness. And boom 24 hours later the mailman came with a goody bag from Keep A Breast, who I’ve always been a fan of. These guys and gals found an awesome way to keep young people informed about prevention of breast cancer, steps you can take to stay healthy, and offer young people a way to donate their time and get involved in the fight!

I mean, everyone loves the I Heart Boobies shirt:
