First look: John Abraham in Welcome Back

ky is the limit when it comes to budgets in Bollywood, it seems. The latest we’ve heard is that producer Feroz Nadiadwala has spent over Rs. 3 crore to shoot a song for his upcoming film, Welcome Back, featuring actor John Abraham.

Nadiadwala confirms this development and says, “We had planned to film the song on a grand scale. So we had around 700 people, which included junior artistes and dancers. This song serves as an introduction to John’s character in the film.”

Although Nadiadwala refrains from revealing any details about the track, he does say that it required a detailed treatment. “Aneesbhai (Bazmi, director) wanted the song to be very special. He and (composer) Anu Malik have worked together to create something very different. That’s why it had to be shot in an elaborate manner. It took seven days to picturise it,” he informs. The film, which is a sequel to the 2007 movie, Welcome, will see John playing the lead.

Akshay Kumar, who was part of the original film, will not feature in this edition. Actors Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal will also be seen in pivotal roles. Nadiadwala also says that the film will be shot at various offbeat international locations. “Aneesbhai has selected some extraordinary places in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These location will be one of the major highlights of our film,” he says.
