My Juice Cleanse With Suja Juices

This past weekend I embarked on a 3 day juice cleanse where I consumed nothing but organic vegetable juices for 3 whole days! Now before you start thinking “okay well now Courtney has just lost it! “ Hear me out! I was feeling pretty run down when I got home from Warped Tour. I’m sure it was a combination of long work days, lack of sleep and not my usual healthy meals so I decided to flush out my system and detox it with a cleanse. When you do a juice fast it gives your digestive system a break from digesting food while also flooding your body with a mega dose of vital nutrients and enzymes from the juice. By drinking a veggie juice you get a much higher amount of nutrients and phytonutrients than you normally would by just simply consuming them because you are drinking them in higher quantities. This allows the body to be detoxified at a metabolic and cellular level while also purifying the blood. It helps your kidneys, liver, lungs, colon and skin release all the toxins that have been built up over time from diet and environment as well as diseased cells begin circulating and are eliminated from the body. A build up of toxins in the body can lead to unnecessary weight gain and fatigue as well as illness and disease.

There is a great documentary on juice cleanses that I highly recommend called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. It completely changed my life and is the reason I juice on a daily basis now. Juice cleanses are great for eliminating toxins and getting your health back on track, but I also have a juice almost everyday just for the sole nutritional benefits they provide. I consider my juice my “daily multi vitamin”.

I chose to do my cleanse with Suja because they are cold pressed, organic and delicious! Cold pressed juices are never heated therefore they retain all their vital nutrients and enzymes. Instead of being pasteurized they use a process called High Hydrostatic Pressure processing (HPP) to kill off any bad bacteria without the use of heat! The majority of juices you find at the supermarket are highly processed and pasteurized and in this process all the healthy essential vitamins and minerals are all killed off (with high temperatures), so by the time they reach you at the store most of them are nothing more than sugary empty calories with little to no nutritional value.

In my opinion Suja are the best on the market and you can virtually find them at any Whole Foods, so they are easily accessible. If you don’t have a Whole Foods near you, they will ship to you! //
