Exclusive Interview With Youtube Celebrity Keenan Cahill

Hey Buzznet pals,

You may recognize the name Keenan Cahill from one of the many amazing videos of him on Youtube! He has managed to get over 650 followers on Youtube and work with TONS of celebs, check out my interview with him!

For those who have yet to check you out, describe yourself in 3 words.

KC: Determined, Survivor & Funny

Your first youtube video that went viral was for Katy Perry’s song, what gave you the idea to do this?

KC: I saw the video for “Teenage Dream” and I liked it. I thought it would just be something fun to do and a great song to lip-sync to. I didn’t expect to post it and have Katy Perry tweet the link out a few hours later. I also didn’t expect her to tweet me. Meeting her two years later in Philadelphia was also amazing.

You have worked with tons of big names now including Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson and Maroon 5, who was your favorite?

KC: I haven’t worked with Maroon 5. I keep hearing that. Perez Hilton & I did a video to their song “Moves Like Jagger” I don’t have a favorite. They were all really great experiences. My first experience with 50 Cent was great, but I was nervous the entire time. I had never shot videos in front of people. I had a small audience watching. We also have some unreleased videos with One Republic & Owl City. If I had to pick one I would say I enjoyed working with Katy Perry because I got to shoot a video with her and I got to go on stage with her in Philadelphia & Chicago.

Who do you want to work with next?

KC: Chris Brown & Lil Wayne are at the top of my list. I got called to Chris’ dressing room in Chicago by his people. Chris was running late, so we didn’t get to do anything. Lil Wayne would be amazing.

What are your main goals for the upcoming year?

KC: My goal is to release my 3rd single “Closer.” It’s a dance-hip hip song. I have two very talented Scottish twins named SHY & DRS. Mark & Darren Scott are fraternal twins who rap. They have an amazing song called “Relapse” I worked with them on a few years ago. I’m also going to start touring again. I just returned from Australia. I performed at an event called VidInc with Jenna Marbles, Ryan Higga, Paint, Tobuscus & 20 others. It was an amazing time. I’m also finishing up my last year of HS. So, as someone is reading this I am sitting in a classroom completely bored out of my mind.

How has life changed since you became an online celebrity?

KC: Well, life isn’t too different. I go to school 5 days per week and on the weekends & holidays I get to travel. A lot of famous people have come to my house to shoot videos. I’ve got to appear on some great shows like America’s Got Talent, America’s Next Top Model and American Music Awards. I’ve met some awesome people. The best part of this whole thing is the networking. You meet someone who introduces you to someone else. An example my manager gets a call from Sony who wants me to do a video with the Victorious cast. A month later I’m having brunch at Ariana Grande‘s house. It’s crazy how it just happens.

If you could do a lip sync battle with anyone who would you choose?

KC: I think I would like to lip-sync battle Justin Timberlake. I think he could give me a run for my money.

You were nominated for a Teen Choice Award, that must of been an incredible experience right?

KC: It was surprising and I was honored to be nominated. The award shows are fun because backstage you run into almost everyone. The best show is American Music Awards because every artist is just walking around backstage and you literally meet everyone at the show.

Who has been your biggest inspiration throughout your career?

KC: My biggest inspirations are honestly the emails from parents & kids who contact me and their manager (a lot of them have a disease or live in another country) that tell me that my videos help their child (or them) feel better about themselves because they are sick or bullied at school. They see me and think, “if he did it, then I can probably do it.” It’s difficult to get discovered on YouTube now, but you should always try! But, the person that I will always thank is Chelsea Handler. She paired me up with 50 Cent, she had me on her show twice and she got me in the Smartwater commercial with Jennifer Aniston. She is a great person.

Any advice for readers and your fans?

KC: My advice is don’t listen to the haters (or anyone who tells you “you can’t do it). Do it. You only get one life so make it your own and don’t worry what others will say or think. You are doing this for you and no one else. You have to try. I was enrolled in an acting school. After 3 years the people told me I would never act or sing. Now, they use my photo as a “success story.” I can honestly say if you want to act, start locally. Just don’t let anyone tell you can’t do something.
