Katelyn’s Favorites of July 2013

If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted a blog on Buzznet in a couple of weeks, but I am back now! This monthly favorites blog is coming to you a few days late ,but I am still posting it as promised! For those of you that don’t know, my monthly favorites blog is where I answer a few questions about my favorite events and things at the end of each month. It is also a way to keep you informed on what’s happening in my life and a chance for you to get to know me better! Let’s get started!

What was your favorite activity in July?

My favorite activity of July was going on vacation with my family to Bar Harbor Maine and Boston, Massachusetts. We first went to Bar Harbor. I loved every moment of it! Being next to the ocean was refreshing and I had a beautiful view. Since I live in the desert, it was a nice change of scenery. The seafood in Maine was so delicious as well! To top it off, the pool next to the ocean was a definite highlight of the trip. Boston was also great to visit! Being in the city was nice and their were so many great restaurants in which to eat. Looking through all of the stores was a lot of fun! It was great going to the Red Sox game, because the fans were so enthusiastic! I will definitely be visiting Bar Harbor and Boston again!

What is your favorite book you’ve read in July?

I have read more books then usual this July, but my favorite book I read would have to be ‘Bossypants’ by Tina Fey. When I purchased this book, I had in mind that this would be a very funny book, but it was so much more then that! Tina Fey takes readers through her life from the time she was a kid to Saturday Night Live. While reading this book, I was constantly laughing and smiling at Tina Fey’s charming and witty personality. One aspect I really enjoyed was how Tina Fey came across as such a relatable person! I really recommend this book to any stong, independent female or to anyone what just wants a good laugh! I am planning on doing a full review on this book very soon so, stay tuned.

What is your favorite movie you watched during July?

I saw the cult classic, Donnie Darko, for the first time in July. It definitely lived up to it’s hype. The story line is very hard to explain. Donnie is sent with instructions, with a little help of a friend, about how to save the world. The world is supposed to end in 28 days. This movie really challenged me on so many different levels. It left me pondering about the true meaning of the movie hours after watching it. This movie was one of Jake Gyllenhall’s first rolls ever and he really delivered, playing such a complicated character as Donnie. The beauty of this movie is that everyone can interpret the movie differently. I suggest that if you haven’t seen the movie, watch it as soon as possible!

What are your favorite beauty/healthcare products you used in July?

One of my favorite products I used in July was a life saving product for my hair, So Gorgeous Detangler! I have always been very tender headed, and what makes it worse is that my hair gets knotted very easily. These do not make for a good combination at all! When I use So Gorgeous Detangling Spray, it really helps decrease the knots in my hair and makes it much easier to comb my hair out! To top it off, it also helps add volume to my hair! I really recomend this product to anyone with tangled hair!

What is your favorite music you’ve been listening to in July?

In July, I didn’t really discover any new artists to listen to, but instead, I listened to a few of my faovirte artists over and over. One group, in particullar, is the Foo Fighters! The Foo Fighters have been one of my favorite artists for a long time because I have grown up listening to them. I really admire the Foo Fighters for not conforming, at all, to what music is expected to be today. They really seem to have such a passion for making music! Two of their albums, in particular that I’ve been listening to lately have been their first album, and Echos, Silence, Patience, and Grace. Here are a few of my favorite songs from those albums and some others songs from artists I’ve been listeing to in the month of July!

What is your favorite outfit you wore in July?

I don’t know if this tequniqally counts as an outfit, but I am in love with the one piece I bought for swimming this summer! I have always been a big fan of the skeleton bones pattern, so when I saw it on a swim suit, I knew I had to buy it! The thing I love about this Rat Baby Swim Suit I purchased from Dolls Kill, is that it has skeleton bones, which I love, and it has so much color added to it! I didn’t have a picture of myself in it, so here is someone else wearing it!

What is your favorite TV show you watched in July?

This year, one TV show that really sucked me in was How I Met Your Mother. In July, I finished season 8 and it really made me hyped and exremely excited for the 9th and final season. There were so many heart felt and supprising scenes in season 8 that I really enjoyed. The writers of the show always seem to amaze more and more each season with how genuinally smart and planned the show is. The Season 8 Finale of How I Met Your Mother really left viewers with a few major cliff hangers and make me so much more anxious to see Season 9. Their is no doubt in my mind that season 9 will be an incredible end to the story.

Hope you enjoyed reading about a few of my favorite things from July!

XoXo,

Katelyn
