Artist Spotlight: Fighting The Villains

Fighting The Villainare an up and coming band I think our community will love. FTV are right up your alley if you love progressive rock with a strong female vocal. These guys just put out a music video for their single, “The Great Charlatan” and are bidding for a chance to get on this summer’s Warped Tour. They are about to get started on some new music to release this fall so keep an eye out so you don’t miss a thing.

To give you some background on Fighting The Villain, check out their video of their single, “The Great Charlatan” and a quick Q&A with the band. #musicrules.

How long have you been playing music together?

We’ve been playing music together for about five years. Cisco and Miguel were jamming together in high school before the band had officially been solidified in 2008.

Who are your influences as a band?

As a band our influences range from Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, and Pierce the Veil. Individually we listen to completely different genres; from pop to death metal. Since we have such a wide spectrum of influences, it really helps us get creative during the writing process, and it is also what makes our sound “Fighting the Villain.”

What are you biggest goals you have as a band to make happen this year?

Our biggest goals for this year would definitely be more touring and putting out a new E.P. We really want this E.P. to showcase our new and more developed sound. We are a more aggressive and dark band and want people to see what we’ve been up to!

You revealed you are going to be working with Kris Crummett on your next record, what do you hope he will add to the recording process?

We have heard nothing but good things about Kris and his studio. We are hoping he will add his input and ideas to help us come out with the best songs yet. We are really excited to hear what he has to say and excited to be able to work with such an amazing producer.

When can fans expect new music?

Fans can expect new music as early as fall this year! Hoping our E.P. will be something that kids can jam to before school starts.

What do you think makes you stand out among so many up and coming bands?

We feel many things set us apart from the scene. One being a female fronted band that has progressive influences. Another thing that makes us stand out is our time and dedication that we give to our fans. We spend as much time as we can answering tweets and writing back on Facebook because they deserve our attention. They are the ones that believe in us and essentially without them we are nothing.
