Artist Of The Month: Action Item

Happy 2013!!! It’s a new year and a new month and you all know what that means: new music! To kick off 2013 the right way I have a band I’m sure some of you may know already: Action Item!

Action Item is a five-piece powerhouse indie/pop band from Bergen County, NJ consisting of Brian Cag, (vocals) Anthony Li, (guitar/cello) Mark Shami, (piano) David Buczkowski (bass) and Dan Brozek (drums.)

Their 2010 EP, The Stronger The Love, has sold over 22,000 copies independently. They have toured with the likes of Honor Society, Owl City, Hot Chelle Rae, and Allstar Weekend. They even have a track, “Learn To Fly,” that was produced by Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. “Working with Nick was incredibly surreal because when someone of that stature has faith in you,” bassist, David Buczkowski describes, “It reaffirms that you’re on the right path.”

Being an independent band, Action Item takes every step to make sure their music has been heard. “If it’s out there & you want it, you need to make it happen for yourself,” states guitarist Anthony Li. “Every single day, we wake up & think, ‘How can we expand our fanbase today?’ ‘How can we accomplish more than we did yesterday?’ ‘How can we make our fans, family & friends proud today?’” With determination like that, how can you not love them?

Action Item just released their latest EP, Resolution, this week! How appropriate! On how this EP reflects who they are as a band, singer Brian Cag stated: “This album is going to show exactly where we are as a band, musically and personally. I think there is a song for everyone on this record. Our personalities really shine through every track and we couldn’t be more proud of it.”

Action Item will be embarking on The Resolution Tour this week with special guests Hello Highway, Before You Exit, Deleasa and more. For all tour dates, check out the official Action Item Facebook page here.
