Artists Against Bullying: True Colors (VIDEO)

Some of your favorite music stars have banded together with MuchMusic for a good cause: to raise awareness about bullying during Bullying Awareness Week.

Jacob Hoggard, Lights, Simple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier, Fefe Dobson, Kardinal Offishall, Alyssa Reid, and Walk Off The Earth teamed up to show their support for the anti-bullying movement and record Cyndi Lauper’s classic “True Colors.”

Bullying has been in the news for quite some time now. From someone who’s been through it, it’s a terrible thing to go through. When I was bullied in middle school, it wasn’t so prevalant in the news so I was always told to just “ignore” it but we all know how difficult that can be. While I’m glad that more and more people are taking a stand against bullying, I’m kind of saddened that it takes kids killing themselves in order for the world to wake up and realize that this is a serious issue. I elaborate more on this here, if you’re interested.

“Bullying is an issue that affects many of us. Whether mild or severe, it’s something that can negatively impact our lives, our relationships, schooling, mental health, etc. Bullying is something MuchMusic takes a hard stance against.

We encourage our audience to join us in standing up against bullying.” -MuchMusic

If you see someone being bullied STAND UP and put a stop to it. You just might save a life.
