Tavi Gevinson Lands The Cover Of Bust Magazine

Tween blogging prodigy turned teen website editrix Tavi Gevinson has landed a magazine cover! (I would add more !!!! but this isn’t THAT exciting considering at the tender age of 16, Gevinson has already been on the covers of POP, Love, and L’Officiel, amongst others). The HBIC at Rookie Mag graces the cover of the current issue of Bust Magazine looking very retro pretty in a green turtleneck sweater and perfect blonde bangs.

In the candid interview Tavi speaks about a lot of interesting topics. Here are some excerpts:

On being singled out as the voice of young feminism:

“That’s a lot of pressure. I mean, there are lots of other people who contribute to this conversation happening online about fashion and feminism.”

How a chat with Anna Wintour led her to become disillusioned with fashion:

“I talked about how I sat next to Anna Wintour at a Band of Outsiders show, and she asked me, “When do you go to school?” I just felt like, When do your models go to school? I’m the same age as the models, and I’m missing school to travel and write and voice an opinion. But at the same time, I had a really weird moment of feeling like I missed my school and I missed my friends, and there wasn’t any real enthusiasm coming from the people who were there for what was going on around us, even though it should have been this exciting, creative thing. I felt funny about that experience.”

On her mission for Rookie:

“Sometimes I feel like all I ever wanted it to be was just a place for reassurance for girls. And sometimes I’ve wanted it to be a really big motivator for them. Mostly, I just want girls to know that they’re already cool and smart.”
