Lanvin’s Fall 2012 Ads Will Feature ‘Real’ People, Not Models

Lanvin‘s new Fall ad campaign will feature a a group of “real women and men, ranging in age from 18 to 80,” a rep for the fashion house told WWD. “Real” apparently means “not very tall very thin models or celebs” in the fashion world, and their real people include a waiter, a milliner, and a recent U.S. immigrant, all shot by Steven Klein (who also recently shot the very unreal Lady Gaga‘s new perfume ad).

Designer Alber Elbaz said, “I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes … It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.”

What do you think about companies using non-models for their campaigns?
