Even if speed dating isn’t your thing, we came up with a list of the top five things you can do to make your next first date amazing instead of awkward!

1. Wear something you love and feel confident in

Everyone has a favorite outfit that makes them feel confident and attractive. Instead of rushing to the mall to find a perfect first date outfit, go shop your closet and pick an oufit you know looks and feels good.

2. Smile

Smiling is a surefire way to make you and the person you’re with feel at ease on a first date. If you keep a smile on your face, it makes it easier for everyone to relax and have a good time.

3. Smell nice

Ok this might sound like a no brainer, but taking time to make sure you are freshly showered with a tiny spritz of perfume will make you feel good and your date will appreciate it. Just remember, no one wants to smell perfume on you 10 feet away!

4. Have a mental list of things to talk about

No matter how prepared you feel before a first date, it’s always a good idea to have a few topics in mind to bring up if the conversation begins to fall flat. Sometimes nerves take over and can cause people to get tongue tied, so having a few things to bring up will definitely save your date from falling into uncomfortable silence.

5. Find out about them and let them know important things about you

It’s important on any first date to make sure that one person isn’t doing all the talking. Ask you date questions you want to know about them and share anything about yourself. Don’t spill your darkest secrets from the get-go, but make sure you guys are compatible and you’re interested before planning a second date!
